The Brief
This project involved designing a yearbook for Assisi Catholic College that would be an engaging and memorable record of the school year. The brief required a clear, readable layout that could handle a large amount of text and imagery without feeling cluttered. The design needed to appeal to a wide audience, including students, parents, and staff, ensuring easy navigation and accessibility. Key challenges included managing visual hierarchy and incorporating creative elements that wouldn’t compromise readability.
The Why
The Assisi Anno aimed to provide a meaningful and enjoyable reflection of the school year, highlighting events and achievements in an informative and visually appealing way. It needed to foster a sense of community and pride, serving as a keepsake for students and staff. The design focused on balancing aesthetics with functionality, ensuring the layout was inviting and easy to follow, making the yearbook a valuable resource.
The Outcome
The final design featured a structured layout that enhanced readability and organization. Columns and pull-out quotes made the text more digestible, while a subtle pattern added visual interest without overwhelming the content. Although the design was not selected for printing, it effectively addressed the brief’s key concerns, balancing visual appeal with usability and demonstrating a commitment to thoughtful, audience-centered design.
